Interview with our teaching assistant Seth Kreibich

conducted by the students of 5C

I: Hello and welcome to the interview. First of all, what’s your name?
S: My name is Seth Kreibich.

I: How old are you?
S: I’m 25 years “young”.

I: Where do you come from?
S: I come from Wisconsin, USA.

I: How long have you been in Austria and why have you chosen Upper Austria?

S: I have been here since September. I live in Bad Hall and the reason why I have chosen to come to Upper Austria was because some of my friends live there, and because of my girlfriend.

I: Which college did you go to and what did you study?
S: I attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Graz. I studied English and German there.

I: Why have you decided to study German?
S: The reason was because of my German family history.

I: You told us that you like traveling. Which countries have you already visited?
S: I have been to many countries in Central Europe, like Slovenia, Slovakia, and Austria. I have also been to Nepal and India. I traveled there all by myself.

I: What do you usually do in your free time?
S: I like to go running and hiking. I also like to watch Netflix and I love cooking.

I: Is there a difference between living in the US and living in Austria?
S: Yes there is a big difference. In Austria everything is so relaxed and sometimes you can just chill. In the US you have to do everything immediately.

I: Is there anything you don’t like about Austria – and do you miss your family and friends?
S: It is not fine that supermarkets are closed on Sundays in Austria…Yes, I do miss them but sometimes we Skype and then I can see my family and my pets.

I: What’s your favorite American and Austrian dish?
S: At home…it’s mom’s chicken lasagna. Here in Austria, it’s Leberkäse and Knödel.

I: Do you have a role model? – If so, who is it?
S: Dalai Lama.

I: What would you do to make America great again?
S: I want that people talk more with each other – to sit down together and solve the problems without violence.
